The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, during his report to the Laws Committee, when asked by Democratic Party MP Elda Hoti about the IPARD funds that were distributed to the families of senior officials or members of organized crime, said that the matter is under investigation and that he cannot share more information.

Dumani said that he has met with the director of OLAF on the matter and that for this case and other similar ones, there is cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office.

The head of SPAK stated that the institution is able to protect EU funds within the framework of integration.

" I had the OLAF director in the office and in the meeting I had expressed my appreciation for the cooperation. The cooperation was on various issues where funds were allegedly misused by the Albanian administration.

The matter is in the investigation phase and when the time comes we will inform you publicly, I cannot say anything now.

In 2024 alone, we had 4 cases of cooperation with the European Public Prosecutor's Office for misuse of EU funds. In one case, on the day of the action, SPAK assisted the prosecutor's office and seized assets in Tirana and Durrës.

There are senior officials arrested or under investigation.

"SPAK is able to protect EU funds in cooperation with OLAF ," said Dumani.

Regarding the "Aruba" issue, Dumani stated that he is not aware of any such file and has nothing to share with the Assembly.

"I do not know a case called Aruba and I have nothing to share with the Assembly and with you."

Regarding the opposition's interest in the reconstruction issue, the head of SPAK said that he does not remember if there is a proceeding and that he will send a response after a letter.

"I have no information whether there is a criminal proceeding on this matter because there are many issues. If you are interested, write an official letter," stated the head of SPAK./ CNA
