Agriculture, the most problematic sector/ Rama asks for "help" from

One of the most problematic sectors and one of the most critical chapters in Albania's EU integration process is agriculture. In addition, farmers have been reacting through protests over the lack of support, according to them, from the government for the removal of subsidies and tax-free oil.

Meanwhile, today, during the signing of the agreement between the state, the banking system and Albanian entrepreneurship for the "Double Your Entrepreneurship" program, Prime Minister Edi Rama asked banks to be more courageous for the agricultural sector.

"After the signing of this agreement, a program will be implemented that opens a door for everyone to double their entrepreneurship, based on the business plan and other components. Five years ago, credit in Albania was around 5 billion euros. Today, after 5 years, it is 10 billion euros. We are doubling the financing capacity of second-tier banks. The economy is in a healthy state and has potential for further growth.

Bad loans have fallen to negligible levels. For small and medium-sized enterprises, a credit line will be set up with a minimum interest of 2% and a maximum of 3%. We ask for cooperation and solidarity from your side, but of course accompanied by government guarantees to reduce the credit risk for the bank. A sovereign guarantee of 30-70% according to the estimated level of risk. Banks should be a little more courageous with the agricultural sector, where the risk is high. Even a grant fund to draft business plans to help make applications will come as added value in facilitating the relationship between entities and banks", said Rama.

On the other hand, the opposition has repeatedly accused the government of removing support for farmers and agriculture, saying that they have stolen millions of euros from EU funds for this sector. Berisha has stated in his statements that the government stole 134 million euros from farmers, EU funds that were intended for the agricultural sector. /CNA
