KPA makes the decision/ Excludes Besnik Cengu from the justice system for 15

The Special Board of Appeal has excluded the Prosecutor of Tirana, Besnik Cengu, from the justice system.

The decision was taken by the judging panel consisting of Albana Shtylla as chairperson, Natasha Mulaj as relator, and members Ina Rama, Rezarta Schuetz, Sokol Çomo.

The Special Appeal Board has banned Cengu from being part of the justice system for 15 years, thus accepting the request of the Public Commissioner.

Also, the KPA decided to stop the transitional reassessment process against the prosecutor of Tirana.

At the end of the trial, the panel of judges, based on Article 66, point 1, letter "b", of Law No. 84/2016, "On the transitional re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania", unanimously decided:

1. Change of decision no. 629, dated 03.03.2023 of the Independent Qualification Commission as follows:

i. Interruption of the transitional reassessment process for the subject of the reassessment Besnik Cengu, with the function of prosecutor in the Prosecutor's Office of the Judicial District of Tirana.

Pursuant to point 2 of Article G of the Annex to the Constitution, the ban on the appointment of the subject of the reassessment Besnik Cengu, to be appointed as a judge or prosecutor of any level, a member of the High Judicial Council or the High Council of Prosecution, Inspector of Chief of Justice or General Prosecutor, for a period of 15 years ", it is stated in the decision of the judicial body./ CNA.al
