OFFICIAL/ Cannavaro takes charge of the renowned national team

The Football Federation of Uzbekistan has officially appointed Fabio Cannavaro as the new coach of the national team.

The former captain of 2006 World Cup-winning Italy will lead Uzbekistan in preparations for the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico, where the team has already qualified.

His technical staff will include Eugenio Albarella as assistant coach, Francesco Troise as athletic trainer and Antonio Chimenti as goalkeeping coach. This is Cannavaro's second experience in charge of a national team, following a brief stint with China in 2019.

In his coaching career, he has managed teams in China, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Croatia. He was most recently the coach of Dinamo Zagreb, where he left in April this year.

With this appointment, the Uzbek federation aims to benefit from the Italian coach's international experience on the eve of the World Cup.
