Historic decision/ Milan's Serie A match will be played outside Italy

UEFA has given the go-ahead for the Serie A match between Milan and Como to be held in Perth, Australia. The decision also comes with permission for the Villarreal-Barcelona match to be played in Inter Miami.

Following the Executive Committee meeting in Tirana, UEFA stated that it remains against holding national championship matches outside their respective countries. Despite objections from fans, clubs and European institutions, the European federation accepted the requests of Italy and Spain due to ambiguities in the current FIFA regulations.

UEFA has announced that it will work with FIFA to update the rules that protect the integrity of national championships. President Aleksander Ceferin stressed that matches should be played at home to avoid depriving local fans. The decision for Milan-Como remains an exception and will not be repeated in the future.
