Tomorrow's draw, what you need to know about the play-off phase

Tomorrow in Zurich, Switzerland, at 1:00 PM, the play-off draw for the 2026 World Cup will be held, where the Albanian National Team will learn its semi-final opponent as well as its potential rival for the group final that secures a place in the 2026 World Cup.

Albania will be placed in Pot 3 in the play-off draw, along with Ireland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Draw structure
A total of 16 teams will participate in the play-off phase and they will be divided into four pots, according to the FIFA ranking and criteria set by UEFA and FIFA. The draw will determine the eight semi-finals and four possible finals, which will be played in March 2026.

The teams in the first pot will face the teams in the fourth pot, while the teams in the second pot face the teams in the third pot.

Pots of the draw
Pot 1: Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Ukraine
Pot 2: Poland, Wales, Czech Republic, Slovakia
Pot 3: Albania, Ireland, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo
Pot 4: Sweden, Romania, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland

Albania will face one of the teams in the second pot: Poland, Wales, Czech Republic or Slovakia.

Match system

The semi-finals will be played as a single match and the teams in pots 1 and 2 will play the match on their home field, which means that the Albanian National Team will play away.

The semi-finals will be played on 26 March, with the finals on 31 March 2026. The winners of the semi-finals advance to the respective play-off final. For each play-off final, a draw determines in advance which semi-final winner will play at home.
