Inter amazes in attack, something that hasn't happened in 28 years

Inter are having a start to the season that brings back memories of the club's golden era. After the first eight games of this season, the Blues have scored 22 goals, 17 of which have come in Serie A and 5 in the Champions League. These figures had not been achieved since the 1997/1998 season. Back then, the team coached by Gigi Simoni and led by Ronaldo "The Phenomenon" finished second in the league and won the UEFA Cup against Lazio.

28 years later, the panorama is completely different. The managers, players and coach have changed, but the numbers remain similar. Cristian Chivu, in his first season on the Inter bench, is building a team that is scoring with ease and showing high efficiency in the offensive department.

The combination between Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram has proven productive, with three goals each, while Boni and youngster Pio Esposito have added important goals.

Unlike last season, when alternatives like Taremi, Arnautovic or Correa did not bring the expected results, this season Chivu has a more balanced group available with multiple options in attack.

Statistics show that Inter have one of the strongest attacks in Italy and Europe, but not the same level of security in defense. In Serie A, the Blues have conceded eight goals, a balance that places them among the six teams with the weakest defense among the top teams in the standings.

Interestingly, Simon's team in 1997 also had similar numbers behind them, with seven goals conceded at the same stage of the championship.

History seems to be repeating itself, a spectacular Inter in attack, but still seeking the right balance in defence.
