Agreement reached, Serbia chooses new coach

The Football Federation of Serbia has begun the process of appointing a new national team coach following the resignation of Dragan Stojkovic. Zoran Mirkovic has been appointed interim coach, who will lead the team in the remaining two World Cup qualifiers.

According to Serbian media, the Federation has reached an agreement with Veljko Paunovic, former Real Oviedo coach and 2015 U20 world champion with Serbia. Initially, he was not considered a main option, with Dejan Stankovic and Vladan Milojevic as other alternatives.

Paunovic is expected to take charge of the national team immediately after the qualifiers. He has a long career as a footballer in Europe and the USA, as well as considerable experience as a coach in clubs and national teams. The Serbian Federation aims to open a new phase for the national team with his appointment.
