England lose defender ahead of Albania match

Marc Guehi has been left out of England's squad for their final 2026 World Cup qualifier against Albania.

The Crystal Palace defender also missed the 2-0 win against Serbia due to a persistent foot problem.

Thomas Tuchel had previously expressed hope that the player would recover in time, but the injury continued to worry him. The English FA confirmed that Guehi had returned to the club to begin his rehabilitation. England will travel to Tirana with 24 players available.

Since Tuchel took charge, Guehi has become a key part of the defence. His contribution has helped England set a record of 10 consecutive clean sheets. England top the group with 21 points, while Albania are second with 14.
