Leo Messi's 7+/ "The Flea" sets another World Cup record with his goal against Cape Verde

Lionel Messi continues to make history. The Argentina captain set another incredible World Cup record, becoming the first player in history to score 7 or more goals in two different editions of the world's biggest football tournament. The new record came in the round of 16 match against Cape Verde, where Argentina secured a dramatic 3-2 victory only after extra time.

Messi found the net in the 29th minute, following a precise assist from Lisandro Martínez, giving his team the lead and setting the Argentine fans on fire. The goal was not just another achievement in the 38-year-old's illustrious career. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner sealed a feat that no one had been able to touch before.

After scoring 7 goals in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Messi has achieved the same figure in the 2026 World Cup, further writing his name in golden letters in the history books.
