The Head of the Interreligious Council of Albania, Dom Gjergj Meta, has congratulated the election of the new Archbishop of the Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Joan.

Dom Gjergji writes that they have gained a fellow traveler on the path of interfaith dialogue.

" The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania has a new Shepherd and we have all gained another fellow traveler on the path of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue in our country. We pray that the Spirit of God may always rest upon you and that you may be a good and holy Shepherd for the Orthodox faithful and a strong and cooperative voice with all religious and civil factors of our society."
