The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, was asked by journalists about the candidate who will represent the opposition in the November 9 elections in Tirana.
Berisha said that he has discussed with other opposition parties and did not rule out the possibility of a joint candidate. From the discussions, Berisha said that the majority is for a candidate who does not belong to any particular party.
He emphasized that this will be the issue that will be discussed at today's Presidency meeting, but did not provide details about possible names.
"With the opposition parties, it has been discussed and they have not ruled out the possibility of a joint candidate. But they are more for a candidate who is not an exponent of the DP or any party. An independent candidate may be the favorite to win the opposition. This will be discussed at the Presidency meeting. At the meeting a little later it will be decided whether this type of candidate will be accepted." , said Berisha./CNA
