The Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, delivered his speech at the event for the new chapter of civil protection through the transformation of the Fire Force and innovation.

Demo stated that the focus will be on increasing the capacities of the country's municipalities. The Minister stated that the municipalities will also have financial support that will be given based on their performance.

"Year after year, the challenges we face during the summer have increased. We have several important initiatives and firefighters are among them. Our ongoing focus is on increasing capacities in municipalities. The local government academy is focused on increasing these capacities. I believe it is very important when we talk about how municipalities will proceed in the future. Financial support is very important, but this must be based on performance. If we take the main points on which the performance grant is based, it is the forest management plan. If it is implemented properly, it reduces the risk of fires. Because prevention creates fewer situations, where then all levels must be involved. Close cooperation will make it possible to have a coherent system. Starting from 2026, the increase in local capacities will be significant and the introduction of new intermediate levels between local and central government will be vital in the fight against emergencies in the territory, " said Minister Demo./ CNA
