Threatened and robbed taxi driver/ 27-year-old arrested, author of 5 other

Tirana Police have arrested today the perpetrator of the threat to a taxi driver yesterday.

27-year-old TM has been arrested after a taxi driver took a large sum of money and a necklace from him yesterday.

The investigation revealed that the 27-year-old is also the perpetrator of 5 other thefts that occurred in Tirana, Krujë and Durrës.

All of these thefts occurred during the month of June.

Tirana/The codenamed "Taximetri" operation is finalized.

The operation, by Police Station No. 1, follows the actions carried out in connection with yesterday's threat, with a cutting tool, of a taxi driver by a passenger, who stole his money and a necklace.

The perpetrator was caught yesterday, immediately after the crime, hiding in the territory of the village of Qeha.

The investigation revealed that he is also the author of 5 armed/violent robberies, committed during the month of June, in Tirana, Krujë and Durrës.

The stolen pendant and 1 cell phone were seized.

As a result of the rapid intervention of the services of the Police Commissariat No. 1, immediately after the notification of a theft in a moving taxi on the "Tirana-Elbasan" road axis, where the passenger had threatened the driver with a cutting tool, and had taken a sum of money and the pendant he was wearing around his neck, it was possible to arrest the suspected perpetrator, citizen TM, 27 years old, who was located in the village of Qeha, near the area where he had committed the crime.

Further, within the framework of the codenamed "Taximetry" operation, in-depth investigations were conducted, with the objective of fully documenting the criminal activity of this citizen. The investigations suspect that the 27-year-old:

-on 05.06.2026, in the Fushë Krujë market, he stole a sum of euros from a citizen's wallet;

-on 10.06.2026, in a business on "Llazi Miho" street, Tirana, through threat with a cutting tool, he stole a sum of money and a gold pendant;

-on 12.06.2026, by threatening with an object similar to a firearm, he stole the gold pendant worn by the owner of a subject on "Skënder Kosturi" street, Tirana, and punched this citizen;

-on 15.06.2026, in the village of Derven, Fushë Krujë, it is suspected that, by threatening with a cutting tool, he stole a sum of money, 2 cell phones and 1 watch from the driver of a taxi;

-on 17.06.2026, in the village of Shënavlash, Durrës, he is suspected of having forcibly stolen a taxi driver's wallet with money and a cell phone.

The investigation continues to fully uncover and document the criminal activity of citizen TM, in the field of property theft/asset theft.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
