The Conference of Speakers is holding its next meeting today. The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, opposed the demands presented by the opposition, as according to him they do not meet the criteria provided for in the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly and the Constitution.

Balla stated that the filed request is not based on Article 98, while suggesting that the opposition could use Article 101 for a no-confidence motion, but at the same time proposing a new prime minister.

"The request does not meet the criteria of Article 98. You can base the no-confidence motion on Article 101. You also need to propose a new Prime Minister. Do you have this?" he said.

Referring to the citizens' protest, Balla accused opposition MPs of distorting the protesters' demands and speaking on their behalf without legitimacy.

"Why are you distorting the protesters' demands? You say five demands, but only one matches what has been made public. The overthrow of the government, a caretaker government, the law on political parties, and others are distortions of the protest demands ," said Balla.

He added that the opposition cannot be considered representative of the protesters, also questioning the organization of the protest.

"We do not recognize you as representatives of the protest. You are not the head of the protest. We have seen your protests and we know what you can do. Consequently, we do not accept you as representatives of the protest at all," declared Balla.

Finally, he also recalled the procedural restrictions for parliamentary interpellations, emphasizing that two interpellations on the same issue cannot be held during the same parliamentary session.

"You know that Article 89, which regulates interpellations, does not allow the holding of two interpellations on the same issue within one parliamentary session. You can withdraw and reformulate the request ," Balla concluded. /CNA
