"The US Embassy does not make baseless warnings"/ Berisha: The

At the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the April 2 events in Shkodra, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of blocking European integration.

"Edi Rama, for his thefts, blocks Albania's doors to Europe and shows it the door of Belgrade. He promised a European passport and now offers a Belgrade passport. Now he wants, in order to keep his power and his chair, not to become EU members, but to have free trade and movement. Edi Rama is the only prime minister in Europe who dares to draft shield laws for his thefts. Friends, the battle against the thieves of power is today the most sacred battle of Albanians", Berisha said.

Among other things, he also spoke about the opposition protests, saying that they will continue until their goals are achieved.

"A peaceful uprising is not a football match that ends within a deadline, we would all like it to be like that, but the moment it is said to be a peaceful uprising, it goes without saying that it is a sustainable movement and continues until the goals are achieved ," he said.

Regarding the US embassy's warning of possible Iranian attacks, Berisha said that the announcement was not baseless, while adding that NATO should strengthen Albania's defense.

"A warning is not issued without a basis. This is certain. Does Albania have protection from NATO? Yes, every NATO country, Albania's airspace is NATO space and we are sure that NATO will protect us. This does not mean that NATO will protect us on the ground, this is where the Albanians themselves should be paying attention. They have issued it for American citizens and American companies that operate, but there is no harm, everyone should keep in mind to continue normal life and call on NATO to strengthen the protection of Albania's airspace ," Berisha said.

The chief democrat was asked by reporters about the exclusions from Democratic Party membership. He said that any cooperation with the ruling party is treason.

"Democrats cannot be hired, they cannot serve the party of crime. And any tolerance of secret or open cooperation with the power of crime is absolutely treason," he said. /CNA
