Why are we a violent society?

As expected, many television programs last night were dedicated to the Shkodra tragedy. Appeals were made to denounce the violence, to cooperate with society, family, neighbors, local government, police, etc. I certainly join any call that raises public awareness of the violence that produces tragedy in the aftermath.

But there will always be violent individuals, as well as unbalanced people. The problem remains with the phenomenon, with the mass.

We are a violent society. Many crimes happen for the most banal reasons, because we have no tolerance. And the worst thing is that a generation is growing up again under this spirit. Why? Do we have genetics? Beyond our temperament, I say no. The bad thing is that we produce violence and not culture.

A violence that originates first from power, from the greed of those who have power and those who have money. They behave like the strongman of the street towards everything public and towards the common citizen.

The other, even more important, is that we do not work for the education of children.

Take a look at our cities: Harbuteri concrete. Cities where the priority is business and not quality of life. Buildings, shopping centers, cafes are the priority. Public spaces are reduced more and more to become palaces. The environment between the buildings is occupied by cafes. We can be unique in the world: We destroyed cinemas to make palaces and supermarkets. We destroyed the theaters, not only physically. Even where there are theater halls, they are used more to hold political party meetings.

There are no entertainment centers for children, there are no puppet theaters, circuses, environments where children can be near the book, deal with painting, art, express their talents and spend time in a cultured way. Cities with cultural centers for children can be counted on the fingers of one hand. While in the villages it is not a question of anything. The educational dimension of the school is quite modest. The cooperation of the family with the school, in this regard, is even more modest.

What about children? Closed at home, with technological devices, or on the street, destined to become street people.

We have built and are building prison cities, stressful cities that produce psychological violence on the individual.

Then we ask why we are so violent!/ CNA
