Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all of Albania, Joan is participating in the 2nd International Conference organized by the theological journal "Θεολoyia", which is taking place in the city of Thessaloniki from September 29 to October 1, 2025.

The central theme of the conference is: “Orthodox Theology and the 'Ontology' of Technology: Anthropological, Political, Economic, Social and Cultural Consequences”

A crucial topic for the contemporary world, raising profound questions about the impact of technology on human beings and spiritual life.

Archbishop Joan is accompanied in this important activity by the Metropolitan of Korça, His Grace Anastasios, and Archdeacon Johani. The delegation of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania was received with honors at the Kapshtica border crossing by the Metropolitans of Grevena, Kostur and Siastisa.

During the conference proceedings, His Beatitude, Archbishop Joan, will speak on one of the most sensitive topics of our time:

“Digital Alienation and Orthodox Therapeutics: A Pastoral Approach to Technology”

The reference aims to offer an in-depth pastoral and theological analysis of the challenges that the digital age brings to human identity, spiritual life, and interpersonal relationships.

The conference is being held under the auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece and is organized by the academic journal “Θεολoyia”.

The Conference is chaired by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos II, while the organizing committee includes some of the most prominent metropolitans of the Church of Greece.

Erion Veliaj's former legal director, Alban Dokushi, whom Prime Minister Edi Rama "kicked" out of the Tirana Municipality along with Sara Goxhaj in March 2025, has requested from the Municipal Council to make available the full administrative practice for the dismissal procedure of the former mayor arrested for 13 charges and 5 serious criminal offenses.

"In my capacity as the legal representative of Mr. Erion Veliaj, relying on Article 23 of the Constitution of the Republic of Albania and the aforementioned legal basis, I request the Tirana Municipal Council to make available to me the complete administrative practice initiated for the dismissal procedure of the Mayor, Mr. Erion Veliaj, including, but not limited to:

1. The act(s) of the initiative submitted for dismissal, the legal argument and any other documentation supporting this request;

2. Minutes and materials of the Legal Affairs and Social Justice Committee

3. Minutes and materials of the meetings where the issue was discussed

4. Any explanatory report or other document that has become part of this procedure

5. The decision and its accompanying report, together with the confirmation of the Prefect of the Tirana District.

This request is made in order to guarantee the right to legal protection and respect for transparent procedures, given that Mr. Veliaj is a party directly affected by this process.

"In light of the above, we request that the requested documentation be made available to us as soon as possible. Attached, the general power of attorney and the attorney's card," the request states.

Consequently, from this request of the former director of Veliaj, Alban Dokushi, a simple question arises: In whose position did Alban Dokushi make this request?

What is officially known and public is that Veliaj's lawyers are Ermir Beta and Artur Selmani, and as the law stipulates, there must be two.

Veliaj can keep the two representatives he has, or he can hire two foreign lawyers from countries within the EU, but in the end there must be two, as stipulated in Article 48, Chapter V, for the defendant's defense counsel. The law is clear, only lawyers from EU countries are allowed, and not from the US or Great Britain.

Secondly, what right does Alban Dokushi, the former director of Veliaj, have to request documents when it is not known whether he has a license or not?

Under what pretext is Alban Dokushi requesting these documents?

Alban Dokushi is just one of Veliaj's former directors, one of his loyal people, who after Veliaj's maneuvers with Sara Goxhaj "flew" out of the Tirana Municipality along with Veliaj's "charge".

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the International Nanotechnology Conference. The Prime Minister said that an environment is being created for innovators who want to learn the sciences of the future.

Rama said that this technology will be implemented in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences and universities.

"This event illustrates what we are aiming for in building a nanotechnology ecosystem centered in Tirana.

The Academy of Sciences appeared ready to embrace the new, let's say to harmonize technology with higher education. Universities are designing programs for the digital environment and nanoscience. In the future, any young person who wants to study the sciences of the future can do it in our home.

We are creating a space for innovators.

The Conference of Speakers has gathered in the premises of the Presidency of the Assembly, which has begun with debates between the opposition and the majority.

The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, who has requested a meeting of the Legislation Council to review the DP's request for the dismissal of Niko Peles from the position of Speaker of the Assembly.

"I bring to your attention that you have an obligation to convene the Legislative Council regarding the DP's request to dismiss the Speaker of the Assembly. The summoning of the Council is an obligation that you must respect.

 

We have also brought a request for a repeat of the September 12 session. We have reasoned that passing it without debate is in violation of the Constitution and the rules of procedure. You should include that request.

Issue 3. We have submitted a request for a motion with debate on the government program for the next 4 years. Based on the regulation, this motion with debate should have been included in this meeting of the Conference of Mayors. Today expires the 3rd day of fate as provided for by the regulation.
