Weapons arsenal discovered in Tirana/ 4 arrested, trafficked from Kosovo

An arsenal of weapons has been discovered by police authorities in the Selita area of ??Tirana.

In this area of ??the capital, the environment where firearms were assembled and stored was found.

The following citizens were arrested: GN, 39 years old, RR, 48 years old, KC, 49 years old and AC, 45 years old, residents of Tirana.

Investigations suspect that these citizens, after obtaining firearms mainly from Kosovo, brought them to Tirana and then modified and stored them in Selita.

Specialists of Police Commissariat No. 3 under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, in continuation of the investigative and operational work to prevent and combat arms trafficking, after a 2-month investigation using proactive methods, have successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Lockdown".

As part of the operation, based on information obtained from the investigation into several citizens suspected of trafficking firearms, mainly from Kosovo to Tirana, with the aim of selling them, the following citizens were arrested:

-GN, 39 years old, RR, 48 years old, KC, 49 years old and AC, 45 years old, residents of Tirana

Investigations suspect that these citizens, after obtaining firearms mainly from Kosovo, brought them to Tirana and then modified and stored them in Selita.

During the search of their adapted environment, their homes, the Police services found 8 firearms (5 pistols and 3 automatic rifles), various weapon parts, a shotgun, combs and combat ammunition, 3 police-style radios, a multifunction vest and 9 cell phones.

Under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, work is underway to identify and capture other persons involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were transferred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, for further action. /CNA
