The Gjirokastra police have cracked down on a drug trafficking case. As a result, two people were arrested and 44 packages of narcotics were seized.

The arrested were caught at the bridge of the village of Kardhiq while they were transporting 44 packages of cannabis sativa narcotics towards Greece.

The total weight of the narcotics amounted to 34.5 kilograms.

DVP Gjirokastër/The anti-drug operation, codenamed "Ura", is finalized. 34 kg of Cannabis Sativa narcotics are seized.

They were caught at the bridge of the village of Kardhiq, transporting 44 packages of narcotics, which they had hidden in the chassis of the vehicle, with the aim of trafficking to Greece, 2 citizens were arrested.

As a result of a well-organized investigative and operational work, carried out by specialists of the Narcotics Investigation Sector, in cooperation with specialists of the Operational Sector and with the services of the "Eagle" Special Force, with the aim of suppressing another attempt to traffic a large quantity of the narcotic substance Cannabis Sativa into Greece, operation "Ura" was finalized.

As part of the operation, citizens EM, 35 years old, resident of the village of Blerimas, Delvinë, and ES, 37 years old, resident of the village of Gjashtë, Saranda, were arrested in flagrante delicto.

Both were caught red-handed, at the bridge of the village of Kardhiq, transporting in a "Hyundai" vehicle, 44 packages of suspected narcotics Cannabis Sativa (with a total weight of 34 kilograms and 5 grams), suspected of being intended for trafficking to Greece.

The packages were hidden in an improvised space, on the chassis of the vehicle.

The narcotics were seized as material evidence, along with the "Hyundai" vehicle and 4 cell phones belonging to the arrested individuals.

The structures of the Gjirokastra DVP, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office, continue investigations to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in this case.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra, for further action, for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in Narcotics", committed in collaboration./CNA
