A 31-year-old citizen has been arrested after being armed with a pistol in Tirana.

Citizen KS, a passenger in a vehicle that was searched by the police as part of the "Passenger" police operation, was placed in handcuffs.

The driver of the vehicle in which the armed citizen was a passenger was also prosecuted for failing to report the crime, and the firearm, a pistol with a comb and ammunition, was seized.

As a result of the rapid administration of information about a citizen who was moving armed, secured on operational routes, in continuation of the work with the objective of identifying and detaining citizens who carry weapons, without a permit, and as a result are a potential risk for criminal events, the services of the Special Force "Eagle", in cooperation with the services of the Police Commissariat No. 1, finalized the operation codenamed "Passenger".

As part of the operation, an Audi vehicle was stopped on "Jean D'Arc" Boulevard, driven by citizen SZ, 51, and passenger KS, 31. During the checks, a firearm, a pistol with ammunition, was found in the 31-year-old's handbag, which was possessed without a permit.

At the end of the procedural actions, citizen KS was arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", while citizen SZ was proceeded at large, for the criminal offense "Failure to report a crime".
