Operation with Spanish authorities/ Criminal group hit, over 10 thousand euros

The Albanian police contribute to the development of the codenamed "Ferdinand" operation, organized by the Spanish Police.

The objective of the operation was to hit a criminal group composed mainly of Albanian citizens, accused of theft with firearms and/or extreme violence, of money and valuables, in apartments in Spain.

As part of the operation, 5 members of the group (4 Albanian citizens) were detained, and 10,590 euros, 4 expensive brand watches and 1 vehicle were seized.

To carry out this operation, the "Antiskifter" Irregular Crime Unit at the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime collaborated closely, for about 2 years, with its Spanish counterparts, through the Liaison Officer at the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Madrid.

Following this cooperation, in January 2026, the Lezha Police finalized the operation codenamed "Axis", as a result of which one of the members of this criminal group, citizen AI, was captured.

Also, during the investigation period, warrants were executed to conduct inspections in several premises in Albania, owned/used by members of the group.

Cooperation with Spanish counterparts continues to capture 2 other members of this group, who are internationally wanted./ CNA
