Anti-drug operation in Korça/ Dozens of arrests and escorts

The anti-drug operation codenamed "Temple" continues with its second phase.

A number of arrests have been made and dozens of people have been escorted by the Local Police Directorate of Korça. The checks started yesterday afternoon and were finalized this morning.

Sources indicate that over 10 people were arrested in this operation, while many others were escorted.

It was a pro-active 3-month investigation by the Korca Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the Police, which resulted in the issuance of arrest warrants for 10 persons, as well as escorts of other persons who can be processed in a free state.

From the investigations of the prosecutor's office, evidence has been discovered that proves that these persons are involved in the activity of "production and sale of narcotics", Article 283/2.

It is learned that during the night checks were carried out on vehicles, apartments and premises in the city of Korça and also in Maliqi. The official police communiqué regarding this operation is awaited to identify the arrested persons./ CNA
