From 25 bullets to the blood feud/ What is hidden behind the assassination

A volley of machine gun fire killed 40-year-old Aleksandër Koçeku in the Kiri area, along the Kir-Prekal road in Shkodër. Investigators suspect that the incident was a well-organized assassination, as the perpetrators are suspected of having followed and then ambushed the victim.

25 automatic rifle cartridges were seized at the site where Koçek's vehicle was found. According to preliminary expertise, they are suspected to belong to the same weapon, reinforcing the idea that the 40-year-old was shot with a volley.

The victim was discovered by a passerby who alerted authorities. The investigation team determined that Koçek had been shot inside his vehicle, and is working to reconstruct the final minutes before the execution.

One of the main difficulties in the investigation is the lack of security cameras at the scene of the attack. For this reason, police are checking every possible footage along the victim's route of movement, in order to identify people who may have followed the vehicle.

The investigation is also focused on the possibility of revenge. Aleksandër Koçek's family members have raised suspicions that the murder may be linked to an earlier conflict that began after the execution of Angjelin Shkambi in 2017.

For that event, Aleksandër Koçek's brother, Artan Koçek, was convicted of the murder of Shkambi. The conflict, according to investigations at the time, was related to a financial debt, but also to a personal issue between the parties.

Investigators are also verifying the victim's past, as Aleksandër Koçeku was also under investigation for the murder of 19-year-old Pavlin Preka, which occurred in 2025.
