Property fraud scheme in Durrës/ 12 prosecuted, 53 thousand square meters

The Durrës Prosecutor's Office has uncovered a sophisticated property alienation scheme, leading to the imposition of security measures for 12 people and the seizure of 53,000 square meters of land in the coastal area.

The investigations began after irregularities were discovered in the mortgage registers of the State Cadastre Agency in Durres. According to the prosecution, the group consisting of citizens and Cadastre employees collaborated to falsify property documentation.

The mechanism included removing original registry sheets and replacing them with forged sheets, registering state assets in the names of private individuals using fictitious dates, using duplicate reference numbers to avoid tracing, and further selling these properties to third parties to cover up the crime.

The court has approved the Prosecution's request for 12 suspects, with 4 people placed under "Arrest in prison", 4 people under "House arrest" and 4 others placed under "Compulsion to appear". In addition to personal measures, the Prosecution has seized 13 real estate properties with a total area of ??53,000 m^2, located in the Kallmi and NB Frutore areas in Durrës, which are suspected of having been illegally obtained.
