The President of Serbia, Aleksadar Vu?i?, said that peace and de-escalation of tensions are key tasks for everyone.

On October 28, Vu?i? met in Belgrade with the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Tob Bauer. As the Serbian president announced through his Instagram account, his country continues to be neutral militarily, but will continue to have "correct cooperation" with NATO.

The meeting between Vucic and Admiral Bauer comes four days before the end of the deadline set by the Government of Kosovo for the re-registration of cars that have license plates with Serbian acronyms for the cities of Kosovo.

Serbët në veri të Kosovës kryesisht përdorin targa KM (Mitrovica e Kosovës), që Kosova i konsideron ilegale. Prishtina ka thënë se nga 1 shtatori deri më 31 tetor, të gjithë qytetarët që kanë makina me targa të lëshuara nga Serbia, mund t’i konvertojnë në targa RKS – Republika e Kosovës.

Besohet se në katër komunat në veri të Kosovës (Mitrovicë e Veriut, Zveçan, Zubin Potok dhe Leposaviq) janë afër 10.000 makina me targa të lëshuara nga Serbia, dhe sipas shifrave të fundit, vetëm 20 prej tyre janë riregjistruar në RKS.

Kryetari i Listës Serbe – partisë kryesore të serbëve në Kosovë – më 27 tetor paralajmëroi se do të vendosen bllokada në veri, nëse Kosova pas 31 tetorit do të konfiskojë targat dhe makinat e serbëve.

Kosova ka thënë se pas kësaj date, makinat me targat e lëshuara nga Serbia nuk do të mund të qarkullojnë brenda territorit të shtetit, e as të kalojnë kufirin.

Bashkimi Evropian dhe Shtetet e Bashkuara kanë kërkuar nga Kosova që të shtyjë afatin për riregjistrim për dhjetë muaj, por sipas zyrtarëve në Uashington, Prishtina ende nuk i është përgjigjur kësaj kërkese.

Më 25 tetor, kryeministri i Kosovës, Albin Kurti, deklaroi se Kosova merr seriozisht sugjerimet e aleatëve ndërkombëtarë lidhur me shtyrjen e zbatimit të vendimit për targat.
