The Specialist Chambers in The Hague have decided to extend the detention of Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi.
In the latest detention review decision dated May 15, 2026, the Trial Panel of the Special Court in the "Thaci" and others case ordered the continuation of the detention of Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, the Special Court announced.
"The Trial Panel found that there are continuing risks that the accused may obstruct the progress of the process or commit other criminal offenses," the announcement states.
The four defendants in The Hague have been in custody since November 2022.
The Specialized Prosecutor's Office, on September 30, 2022, submitted the confirmed amended indictment against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selim, which consists of ten counts, charging the latter with war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Finally, the Trial Panel has postponed the deadline for announcing the verdict, in this case until July 20, leaving the possibility open for further postponements./ CNA
