Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has been hospitalized after experiencing several heart-related health problems.
The Danish Royal House shared the news with a press release this Thursday.
"Queen Margrethe was admitted to Rigshospitalet this afternoon regarding her heart health. Queen Margrethe will be hospitalized over the weekend for observation and further examinations. Her Majesty is tired, but in good spirits. The Royal Household will announce when there is news," the statement said.
The hospitalization is the latest health problem for the former monarch, who abdicated in January 2024 on the 52nd anniversary of her accession to the throne.
She became the first Danish sovereign to voluntarily abdicate in nearly 900 years, passing the crown to her eldest son, King Frederik. /CNA
