Meeting in Pakistan/US confirms trilateral talks

A senior White House official confirms that face-to-face trilateral talks have taken place between US and Iranian delegations with Pakistan. Pakistani government sources previously told the BBC the same.

The official provides more details about who is in the room for the US. They say the core delegation, as we have reported, consists of Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

According to the senior official, the broader American delegation includes national security adviser Andrew Baker and Asian affairs adviser Michael Vance.

American experts in various fields are also present in Islamabad, according to the official, with other experts being supported by Washington./ CNA, translated by BBC
