Russia drone strikes train in Kharkiv, 5 dead/ Zelensky: Act of terrorism

A passenger train was hit by Russian drones in the Kharkiv region (in northeastern Ukraine), leading to the deaths of at least 5 people.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attack as an "act of terrorism," stressing that civilian targets have no military justification.

According to Ukrainian prosecutors, one of the drones hit a passenger train, while two others hit areas around the railway.

The train's route stretched from Chop, near the border with Hungary and Slovakia, to Barvinkove and carried over 200 passengers on board.

The bodies of the victims were found at the scene of the crash while firefighters extinguished the flames in the stricken train.

The attack on the train came as Russia intensifies its use of drones to strike beyond Ukrainian territory, also affecting other civilian areas. /CNA
