According to a new report from the Latvian Constitution Protection Agency (SAB), drones are responsible for around 70% to 80% of deaths and injuries on the warfront for both Ukrainian and Russian forces.

The report argues that the intensive use of unmanned devices has fundamentally changed the nature of the conflict, making it more dynamic at the tactical level, but making it impossible for either side to achieve clear strategic progress.

The same report even mentions a Russian plan to build a drone factory in neighboring Belarus, which will be able to produce up to 10,000 drones per year.

The use of drones in warfare played an important role in supporting Ukrainian forces in their efforts to repel the Russian invasion in February 2022.

However, since the end of 2024, the situation has changed and now Russia has the advantage, which has adapted to this new technology, according to the Atlantic Council./CNA
