Netanyahu: I will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared in a press conference that he will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip, asserting that Israel will maintain security control "from Jordan to the sea."

"I'm hearing that I will allow the creation of a Palestinian state in Gaza - that has not happened and will not happen. I think you all know that the person who has consistently blocked the creation of a Palestinian state is me. Israel will exercise security control from Jordan to the sea, and that also applies to the Gaza Strip ," Netanyahu said.

The Israeli Prime Minister said that now in Gaza, Israel is focusing on two missions, the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarization of the enclave, after the body of the last hostages who were kidnapped on October 7, 2023, was found.

"We are now focusing on completing the two remaining missions: dismantling Hamas' weapons and demilitarizing Gaza from weapons and tunnels ," the prime minister says. /CNA
