Erdogan and Trump hold phone conversation/ What was discussed between the leaders

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation today. 

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the United States of America, developments in Syria, the peace process in Gaza, and trade relations, with a particular focus on the defense industry.

In the statement of the Turkish presidency, it is said that Erdogan emphasized that Ankara will continue to take measures to strengthen cooperation with the US, underlining that promoting relations in all areas serves the common interest of both countries.

The Turkish president stressed the importance that Turkey attaches to the full implementation of the ceasefire in Syria, noting that the situation is being closely monitored in coordination with the US and Syrian authorities.

Referring to Gaza, Erdogan expressed his wish for the successful functioning of the Peace Board, and stated that ending the humanitarian crisis and rebuilding the area could pave the way for lasting peace in the region. /CNA
