Nigerian president pulls ambassadors around the world

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of Nigeria's ambassadors around the world with immediate effect, his spokesman said on Saturday, Reuters reports .

"The President is determined to ensure that world-class efficiency and quality will henceforth characterize the delivery of foreign and domestic services to citizens, residents and potential visitors alike," said presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale .

Nigeria's United Nations permanent representatives in New York and Geneva are exempt from "total withdrawal" due to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Tinubu's office said in a statement.

Nigeria has 109 diplomatic missions worldwide, consisting of 76 embassies, 22 high commissions and 11 consulates.

Tinubu, who has launched the country's boldest reforms in decades, is scheduled to hold talks with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the general assembly and also meet with leaders from Brazil, India, South Korea and Germany during the meeting. of the G20 later in the month./ CNA
