Clash between gangs in Mexico, more than 10 injured

Gunmen attacked a group of people who had gathered for a Christmas party in the town of Salvattiera in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, killing more than 10 people. 

The State Prosecutor's Office announced that four more people were killed by shootings in the city of Salamanca, without specifying the circumstances of the attack.

Local media reported that the deadly attack in Salvatierra was carried out on Sunday morning as citizens were finishing a party. 

The state of Guanajuato has long been the scene of bloody conflicts between the Jalisco drug cartel and local gangs supported by the Sinaloa cartel, and has long had the highest recorded homicide rate in that part of Mexico.

Also on Sunday, in the Caribbean seaside resort of Tulum, three men were shot dead and four others wounded in an attack at a cafe, authorities confirmed.

The State Prosecutor's Office announced that the preliminary investigations showed that the shooting was apparently caused "due to a dispute regarding the sale of drugs"./CNA< /span>
