Fierce fighting Israel-Hamas/Balance of victims

Fierce fighting has continued across the Gaza Strip, although hopes rose over the weekend for another ceasefire and deal to release hostages.

Last day there were deadly Israeli airstrikes from north to south of Gaza.

The attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp reportedly killed 90 people, according to local health officials.

Israel says it goes to great lengths to avoid hitting civilians. But the botched killing of three of its hostages carrying a white flag on Friday has increased international and domestic pressure for another ceasefire deal.

We recall that Hamas broke through Israel's heavily defended perimeter on October 7, killing 1,200 people and taking 240 hostages, some of whom were released during a brief truce.

On the other hand, the Health Ministry in Gaza, which is run by Hamas, says that more than 18,700 people have been killed and 50,000 wounded since the start of the war./ CNA
