Osmani on the formation of institutions: A solution in accordance with the

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has called on parliamentary parties to find a solution in accordance with the country's Constitution to establish the new Parliament and Government as soon as possible.

Osman's call comes at a time when the Assembly has remained hostage to the selection of its deputy speaker from the Serb minority - the final step necessary for the final constitution of the Assembly.

This week it seemed as if Kosovo would finally have a new Assembly after a long stalemate following the February elections, as it elected its president and four vice presidents.

However, parliamentary parties have again encountered disagreements over the voting for the deputy speaker from the Serbian minority in the Assembly.

"For the Assembly to be constituted urgently, for the government to be elected urgently, every day lost is a day lost for Kosovo, for its people, for our Euro-Atlantic perspective, so I hope that a solution in accordance with the Constitution will be found as soon as possible," said Osmani.

A day earlier, MPs did not vote for any of the Serbian List candidates put to the vote through a draw for deputy speaker of the Assembly.

Another Serbian MP, Nenad Raši? from the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, who is not supported by the Serbian List, also did not receive a vote.

Raši? – who was not voted on in the previous session either – received 56 votes in favor, 1 against, while 20 deputies abstained.

Deputies will reconvene on Saturday to continue the constitutive session where it left off on Thursday.

Voting separately for vice presidents from minorities has raised suspicions that the country's Constitution may have been violated, as in the past they have been voted in a package.

Osmani said that "I do not want to give constitutional interpretations for this situation," when asked about the separate voting by journalists after paying homage at the Monument to Missing Persons in Pristina, in marking the International Day of Enforced Disappearances.

The International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances is marked on August 30.

During the war in Kosovo, around 13,000 people were killed, over 800,000 were displaced, and around 6,000 disappeared, of whom around 1,600 are still missing.

Hundreds of bodies of murdered Kosovo Albanians have been found in mass graves in Serbia./ Rel
