Osmani discusses with Prattipati the "steps towards the full
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, discussed with the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati, the steps towards concluding the process of constituting the Kosovo Assembly.

The constitutive session for the legislature resulting from the February elections began on April 15, but has not yet concluded.

"During the meeting, the latest developments in the country were discussed, including the election of the Speaker of the Assembly and the majority of the Deputy Speakers, as well as further steps towards the full constitution of the Assembly," the announcement issued by the Presidency of Kosovo said.

In the past, Prattipati has said that the political impasse is causing a loss of opportunities for Kosovo, while Osmani has described the constitution of the Assembly as a "state emergency."

After months of blockade, on August 26, the deputies of the Kosovo Assembly elected Dimal Basha from the Vetëvendosje Movement to the post of Speaker of the Assembly.

Then, through a ballot vote, three vice-presidents from Albanian parties were elected: Albulena Haxhiu from the Vetevendosje Movement, Vlora Çitaku from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, and Kujtim Shala from the Democratic League of Kosovo.

But, the vote for the two vice-presidents of the non-majority communities, at the request of MP Elbert Krasniqi, was held separately - and not in batches, as had been done in the past.

Thus, from the ranks of the non-Serb communities, Emilija Rexhepi was elected to the position of vice-president. However, the issue has stalled with the election of the fifth vice-president, from the ranks of the Serbian community.

The Serbian List – the Serb party that won nine of the ten seats reserved for the Serb community – nominated Slavko Simi? for the post of deputy mayor. On August 26, he failed to receive the necessary 61 votes.

After this, the new Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, said that Simic's name could not be put to the vote, citing the recent ruling of the Constitutional Court.

He then put the other candidates to the vote through a draw, including the name of Nenad Rashiqi, the leader of the Serbian Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, close to the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti. /REL
