Netanyahu: We will continue to be in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement to the media on Friday that it is very important that Hamas disarm and the Gaza Strip be demilitarized.

But on the other hand, he declared that Israeli forces will continue to be present in Gaza, to exert pressure on Hamas to completely disarm.

"If this is achieved peacefully, great. If not, then we will be forced to use force. I believed that if we applied great military pressure, combined with great diplomatic pressure, we would absolutely be able to return all of our hostages. And that is exactly what we did."

Twenty of the hostages are alive and twenty-eight are dead. I thank my close friend Donald Trump for his diplomatic efforts and for having Israel's security as his primary concern.

"This would also achieve the goals of the war, including the return of the hostages, the cessation of the ballistic and nuclear threat from Iran, which jeopardized our existence here, and the breaking of the Iranian axis, in which Hamas is a central component," Netanyahu said in the statement./ CNA
