The Minister of the Interior of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, announced on Saturday that a new task force will be created to investigate serious crimes, after the killing of one person and the wounding of several others on August 4 in the center of Pristina.
A 39-year-old man was killed and 17 people were injured during a shootout in the center of Pristina shortly before midnight on Friday.
"The Ministry of the Interior, within the framework of the strategy against organized crime, will initiate the establishment of a task force for the in-depth investigation, not only of this case, but also of other similar cases," Sveçla wrote in a Facebook reaction on August 5. .
The August 4 incident took place in the "Bon Vivant" bar in the center of the capital, and according to the police, it came after a dispute between several men.
Svelça announced that "the parties involved in the conflict have dozens of previous criminal offenses", blaming the justice system for letting the suspects of serious crimes go free.
"Even today we lost a life at the hands of criminals who, due to miscarriages of justice, have been free," he wrote.
"When justice languishes, similar situations are inevitable."
The Clinical and University Hospital Service of Kosovo (SHSKUK) confirmed the death of a 39-year-old man, as a result of serious injuries.
"Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, a person born in 1984 died in the Central Intensive Care Unit", announced SHSKUK.
All other injured from this incident are out of danger, said SHSKUK.
According to the police, the four suspects remain hospitalized at the Clinical and University Center of Kosovo (KKUK) and, by the decision of the prosecutor, are detained under the care of the police.
SHSKUK announced that five people have been admitted for further treatment, after emergency medical assistance at the Emergency Clinic, as a result of the injuries they received last night.
Of these, four were admitted for further treatment at the Orthopedics Clinic and 1 at the Vascular Surgery Clinic.
