Four killed in drone attacks in several Russian regions, including Moscow

At least four people have been killed in a major Ukrainian drone attack on Russian regions, including Moscow, which faced its biggest attack in more than a year on Sunday.

Three people died in the Moscow region and another in the Belgorod region, Russian authorities said on Sunday.

Moscow region governor Andrei Vorobyov said a woman was killed when a house was hit in Khimki, north of the capital, adding that rescuers were searching the rubble for another person.

Two men were killed in the village of Pogorelki, in Mytishchi district. Several high-rise residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged, he said.

Air defenses destroyed 81 drones heading towards Moscow since midnight, TASS reported, citing Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

This is considered the largest attack on the Russian capital in more than a year.

Sobyanin said 12 people were injured, mostly near the entrance to the Moscow oil refinery, while three houses were damaged. He added that the refinery's "technology" was not damaged.

Russia's Defense Ministry said 556 drones were shot down over the country's territory overnight and early Sunday morning.

The country's largest airport, Moscow's Sheremetyevo, said drone debris had fallen on the airport's territory without causing damage. /REL
