American fashion icon passes away/ He took care of the image of nine presidents

American fashion icon and designer Iris Apfnell has passed away at the age of 103. Apfnell died Friday at her home in Palm Beach, Florida.

She married Carl Apfnell in 1848, and two years later they built a textile company, Old World Weavers, and ran it until they retired in 1992.

Their work has included restoration projects for clients including actress Greta Garbo and owner of the famous cosmetics company Estee Lauder, and she has worked in the White House for nine presidents, including Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Bill. Clinton, according to the Guardian.

In 2018, the company Mattel created a Barbie doll in her image, which made her the oldest person to inspire the creation of the famous doll./CNA
