He promised him a million/ EU sends 300 thousand shells to Ukraine

The European Union (EU) has delivered 300,000 of the one million shells promised to Ukraine so far, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Wednesday in Brussels, where he is attending a NATO meeting.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of the military alliance, Kuleba called for greater cooperation between Ukraine's defense industries and NATO to ensure that Kiev has all the supplies it needs. defeated Russia, which launched its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

"We must create a common Euro-Atlantic field of defense industries", said Kuleba, adding that this would guarantee security for Ukraine and for the NATO countries themselves.

Kuleba also said that he had a "productive" meeting on Tuesday with the Slovak Foreign Minister, Juraj Blanar.

Slovakia's newly elected president, Robert Fico, vowed to freeze military aid to Ukraine, although he later clarified that this did not mean blocking arms purchases by private companies.

"He reiterated that... contracts between Ukrainian and Slovak companies that produce weapons will continue," Kuleba said.

Earlier this year, EU leaders pledged to send one million rounds of ammunition to the Ukrainian front by spring 2024. This would mean a massive increase in production.

But in early November, the 27-nation bloc said it was now finding it difficult to do so.

"The figure of one million will not be reached, we have to guess that", said the Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistrius, on November 14.

In Ukraine's war with Russia, 155mm artillery shells play a decisive role. The consumption of 6,000 to 7,000 shells per day indicates their strategic importance.

If it receives a million pieces of such ammunition, Ukraine would ensure stability for at least six months, according to experts./ REL
