Extraordinary PHOTOS of the wild world/ The competition for the image of the year opens

Will it be a photograph that reflects the unspoiled beauty of the natural world, or one that shows the potentially destructive impact of human beings on their environment?

The choice is yours as wildlife photography enthusiasts around the world have the opportunity to vote for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award. 

As always, the prestigious competition has a section open to the public, with the opportunity to vote from a selection of 25 outstanding images, reports CNN.

Voting is open online until January 31. The winner and four best photos will be announced in February and displayed online as well as in a personal exhibition at the Natural History Museum.
