The German diplomat, Ana Baerbock, has announced that Germany will send another 150 troops to the NATO mission in Kosovo.

After the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers, the German minister emphasized that peace in the Western Balkans "hangs on a thread".

"Peace often hangs in the balance in the Western Balkans. NATO and EU commitments are coordinated: EUFOR, the mission, ensures stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina and KFOR in Kosovo. Germany will contribute up to 150 additional troops to KFOR", the announcement states.

The Foreign Minister has underlined that there are often attempts to destabilize the Western Balkans.

"Especially in the Western Balkans, actors are constantly trying to destabilize. This affects not only the situation on the Kosovo-Serbia border, but also the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Not only NATO, but especially the EU is one of the guarantors of security in the Western Balkans. The European Union is our life insurance. NATO ensures our security in this European area. This is why sharing and collaboration are so essential. NATO and EU commitments go in parallel: for example with EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO KFOR in Kosovo," she said.

He further emphasized that the NATO alliance should strengthen security throughout Europe.

"Over the last two years we have seen dramatically that security and peace must be protected again every day in Europe. That is why it is so important that, especially in these times, we as NATO's security alliance strengthen together our protective shield for peace, freedom and security throughout Europe," said the German minister./ CNA
