UAE tanker hit in Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates announces that a tanker affiliated with Adnoc, their state-owned oil company, has been hit in the Strait of Hormuz.

No one was injured, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement, adding that this attack constitutes a flagrant violation of the UN resolution.

"This attack constitutes a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which affirmed the importance of freedom of navigation and rejected the targeting of merchant ships or the obstruction of international sea lanes.

The targeting of merchant ships and the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of coercion or economic blackmail represent acts of piracy by Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps and pose a direct threat to the stability of the region, its peoples, and global energy security.

The UAE has called on Iran to stop the attack and "provide its full commitment to an immediate cessation of all hostilities and the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz," the ministry said.
