Former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi

The former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has asked the judges in The Hague to take into account that the history in 25 years has been blurred.

He has emphasized that he expects to be acquitted of all charges. In his speech, Thaçi underlined that every person would do what he has done for the freedom and independence of his people.  

"Like many Albanians from the Diaspora, I also returned to help my country. Anyone in my place would have done the same thing if their freedom was taken away.

They fought, many brave fell. Thousands of families lost their relatives.

Si rezistenca paqësore ashtu dhe e armatosur kishin të njëjtin synim, lirinë dhe rendin demokratik të Kosovës. Pa atë rezistencë, sot Kosova nuk do të ekzistonte.

Lufta iu imponua. Ata bënë atë që do të bënte çdo popull liridashës. Ne ishim në anën e drejtë të historisë. Sot jam i lumtur që populli jeton i lirë.

Kërkoj që të keni parasysh se historia në 25 vite është e mjegulluar. Realiteti po ngatërrohet me opinione dhe agjenda, spekulimet po shndërrohen në fakte. Mllefet politike të secilit nuk duhet të kuptohen si fakte në këtë seancë.

Njerëzit mbajnë brenda atë që duan të besojnë se është e vërtetë, kemi dëshmi faktike dhe historike. Duhet të kthehemi te këto dëshmi se aty do të zbulohet e vërteta.

We sacrificed ourselves to be free. Everyone knows that without the support of the USA we would not be independent", said Thaçi./ CNA.al
