A Pennsylvania man was sentenced Friday to nearly three years in prison after he attacked an Associated Press photographer and police officers with a stun gun during riots at the United States Capitol.

Alan Byerly apologized to his victims before Judge Randolph Moss sentenced him to two years and 10 months in prison, to be followed by a further three years on parole. Byerly will be credited with the 15 months he has already spent in jail since his arrest, his lawyers said.

"I didn't go to Washington to hurt anybody," Mr. Byerly told the judge.
