Truss Resignation/ Russia Taunts British Prime Minister: A Body and Illiterate

Russia has mocked Liz Truss' "disastrous" leadership, calling her a "disgrace" and "illiterate".

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: "Britain has never known such shame from a prime minister," writes The Mirror.

As for the term illiterate, it seems to refer to Truss's visit to Moscow shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine, while she was British Foreign Secretary.

In a meeting with Russia's foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, she confused two regions of Russia with Ukraine, becoming an "object of ridicule" by Russian diplomats and on Russian state television.

On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron said he hoped the UK would find stability "as soon as possible".

 "We want, above all, stability", he added. He said that on a "personal level" he is "always sad when he sees a colleague leave"./ CNA.al
