Suspicion of falsification of voting results in Kllokot/ 14 people are being

Kosovo Police have arrested and interviewed 14 people - chairmen and members of counting commissions - on suspicion of falsifying voting results at the Municipal Counting Center (MCC) in Kllokot.

According to the Police announcement, the arrests were made on February 6, while the suspects were interviewed in their capacity as suspects. By decision of the prosecutor, they were released after the interview.

So far, dozens of people have been detained in several regions of Kosovo and hundreds more have been interviewed on suspicion of vote rigging. Investigations are underway in Prizren, Malisheva, Podujeva, Ferizaj and Mitrovica.

The national coordinator for elections, Laura Pula, has described the December 28 election process as one of the “most compromised” processes, after major discrepancies were observed in the number of votes of candidates for deputies after a partial recount ordered by the Central Election Commission (CEC). The CEC then ordered a full recount of votes, which was completed last weekend.

Pula said that the candidates whose votes were added will also be subject to investigations, but so far it has not been announced whether investigative procedures have been initiated against any of them.

After the recount was completed, on January 31, the CEC announced the final results, paving the way for the formation of the country's new institutions.

According to the final results, the Vetëvendosje Movement won 51.10 percent of the vote, securing 57 seats in the Kosovo Assembly. The Democratic Party of Kosovo received 20.19 percent of the vote, or 22 seats, the Democratic League of Kosovo 13.24 percent, or 15 seats, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo 5.50 percent, or six seats.

Of the seats reserved for the Serbian minority, nine seats were won by the Serbian List and one seat by the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival. /REL
